Eagles Trail Finals 3-2

Game #4 Review: Eagles vs. Bruins – Thursday, March 26

After giving up six goals in Uxbridge, it was a big night for the Eagles at home this past Thursday. However, the Eagles had to compete without goaltender Nate Gillis and captain Nolan Matheson, who were both serving suspensions from the previous game.

1st Period

The Eagles had their first big chance only one minute in when Ben Stycuk walked in on a partial breakaway but couldn’t lift the puck past Robby DiMaria. After a slashing penalty to Eagles forward Seth Clark, the Bruins capitalized on a power-play goal by Tyson Lotton. The period ended with the Bruins up 1-0.

2nd Period

At 3:11 of the second, Danny Thomakos deposited his eighth goal of the playoffs to increase the Bruins’ lead. With two minutes left in the frame, Ryan Shier added another power-play goal, leaving the Eagles trailing by three heading into the third.

3rd Period

At 4:49, the Eagles caught a break after a broken stick by an Uxbridge player led to a 2-on-1 featuring Nolan Winter and Christian Sokuljuk. Winter delivered a nice pass to Sokuljuk, who fired a perfect shot to make it a 3-1 game. The Eagles pressed for more, but it was not meant to be, as Jack Kemp sealed the deal with an empty-netter.

Uxbridge took the 4-1 win. Now, the Eagles’ backs are against the wall as they head to Uxbridge for Game 5, fighting to extend the series to Sunday night.

Game #5 Review: Eagles vs. Bruins

The Eagles knew their playoff lives were on the line. Down 3-1 in the series to the first-place Uxbridge Bruins, they entered Game 5 knowing they needed a win to bring the series back home on Sunday. Jairus Ford got the start in net for the Eagles, facing off against Robby DiMaria for the Bruins.

1st Period

The Bruins opened the scoring with a goal by Kyle Butt, but the Eagles answered just two minutes later on a power-play goal by Brayden Hicks to tie it 1-1. Despite being outshot 21-5 in the opening frame, Jairus Ford stood his ground in the Eagles’ goal to keep things even.

2nd Period

The Eagles caught a break when Gianluca Meli finished off a play to make it 2-1. They added one more before the period was out, as Blake Peters Davey scored with three minutes left to give Clarington a 3-1 advantage heading into the third. Shots were even at 11 apiece in the second.

3rd Period

Once again, Uxbridge came out strong trying to clinch the series on home ice, firing 16 shots in the period and 48 overall. However, they could only get one more puck past Jairus Ford, who put on an outstanding performance. That lone goal came from Jack Kemp with six minutes remaining.

The Eagles held on and are coming home for Game 6! Puck drop is Sunday at 7:25 PM. Come out and bring as much noise as you can for your Eagles!
