Eagles start the New Year off with a Bang

Eagles vs. Uxbridge: January 2nd

The Clarington Eagles entered the Christmas break in a mini-slump after losing two tight games to Port Perry and Georgina. Friday night’s matchup against Uxbridge marked their first game back in action. While Uxbridge took the first three games of the regular-season series, the Eagles finally got on the board during their last meeting with a 5-2 victory.

1st Period

The Eagles didn’t take long to net their first goal of 2026, as Caleb Bidgood found the back of the mesh at the 1:50 mark. Exactly five minutes later, Ben Stycuk extended the lead with an unassisted goal. The Eagles headed into the dressing room up 2-0, outshooting the Bruins 11-9.

2nd Period

Defensive play tightened up in the second frame. Only one goal was scored, coming courtesy of Uxbridge’s Tyler Lotton. His effort cut the lead in half, making it a 2-1 game heading into the final period at the Uxbridge Arena.

3rd Period

The Eagles took control early in the third with two lightning-fast goals scored just 11 seconds apart. First, former Bruin Nolan Winter capitalized on a power play at 7:47. Immediately after, Ben Stycuk struck again for his second of the night and seventh of the season.

Although Tucker Roberts clawed one back for the Bruins a minute later, it wasn’t enough. The Eagles held on for their first victory of the New Year. Interestingly, the road team has dominated this season series, winning all five matchups so far. The Eagles hoped to break that trend when the two clubs squared off again at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex Sunday afternoon
