Eagles Shut Out Merchants

Game Recap: Eagles vs. Little Britain

The Clarington Eagles and Little Britain Merchants renewed their rivalry on Saturday night at the old rink in Little Britain.

1st Period

The opening frame was a scoreless, evenly matched affair. The Eagles outshot the Merchants 13–9 in the first period, but both goaltenders—Jairus Ford for the Eagles and Ethan Beattie for Little Britain—held the fort to keep the game tied at zero.

2nd Period

Only two minutes into the second period, the Eagles found the back of the net. Christian Sokuljuk scored his second goal in as many games for the club. Both of his recent goals have been clutch, and this one gave the Eagles a 1–0 advantage heading into the final frame.

3rd Period

Shot totals were low in the third, with Little Britain outshooting the Eagles 8–6. However, Jairus Ford remained a wall, turning away all 8 shots in the period and 24 total for the shutout. Ben Stycuk added an empty-netter to seal the deal as the Eagles returned to the win column with a 2–0 victory.
