After a massive, motivational overtime win over Georgina, the Clarington Eagles traveled to Little Britain on Saturday night to keep the momentum rolling.
1st Period: The Eagles dominated from the puck drop, outshooting the Merchants 20–7. Marcus Mori notched the only goal of the frame to give the Eagles a 1–0 lead heading into the break.
2nd Period: Within a span of just 19 seconds, the Eagles extended their lead to 3–0 thanks to back-to-back goals from Christian Sokoljuk and Charlie Vanhaverbeke. Little Britain’s Everitt Corneil eventually put the Merchants on the board to make it 3–1, but Jack Geniole quickly restored the three-goal cushion, sending the Eagles into the third period up 4–1.
3rd Period: Early in the final frame, Brando Mancia gave the Merchants some life by cutting the lead to 4–2. However, the Eagles were not to be denied. They pulled away with two more goals—one from Aiden Miller and the second of the night for Jack Geniole—to secure a 6–2 victory. Jairus Ford earned the win in net, turning aside 32 shots.
Eagles vs. Caledon
The Eagles immediately turned their attention to the back end of their back-to-back, traveling to Caledon the following day to face the Goldenhawks.
1st Period: Much like the night before, the Eagles came out flying, creating the best scoring chances and outshooting Caledon 14–4 in the opening period.
2nd Period: The Eagles were finally rewarded for their persistent play when Nolan Winter beat Max Zemp for the first goal of the game.
3rd Period: Blake Peters-Davey gave the Eagles some breathing room by extending the lead to 2–0. Caledon fired right back with a goal by Ronin Maharij to make it 2–1, and the tension remained high until the final minute of play. With Max Zemp on the bench for the extra attacker, Spencer Eriksson sealed the victory with an empty-netter, securing a 3–1 win and a perfect road-trip sweep for the weekend.
Upcoming Schedule:
Please note the Eagles will not be at home this Thursday night. They will be traveling to Schomberg on Thursday and will face those same Cougars again on Saturday night (in Schomberg) to make up for the game previously canceled due to bad weather.
Your Eagles return to home ice on Thursday, February 12, as they play host to the Port Perry Lumberjacks.
