Your Clarington Eagles headed North to Apsley Tuesday evening, looking for a win and sweep of the North Kawartha Knights. After twelve goals and a shutout, the team boarded the bus home looking ahead to a round two match against the Lakefield Chiefs.

What is left to say about our first-round series against the Knights? The series was over before it started as the top-seeded Eagles took on the last-place team. The Eagles outscored their opponents 36-1 over four games, with 20 different Eagles skaters getting onto the scoresheet throughout the series.

As of Wednesday afternoon, the Eagles were dominating several statistical categories:

Jude Rondina

Trevor Urquhart

  • Points 1st in PJHL, 15
  • Goals 1st in PJHL, 8
  • Assists 4th in PJHL, 7

One can also find Smith (assists), Gaylor, and Klaas (goals) in the PJHL top 20.

Up next the Clarington Eagles will host the Chiefs on Thursday, March 14 at Garnet B Rickard (puck drop of 7:25 to be confirmed). The series is expected to be more of a challenge after the Chiefs also swept their first round series. The Chiefs also feature Peterborough Petes goaltending prospect Easton Rye. In four playoff games Easton sported a GAA of .75 and a Save Percentage of 0.977.
