New Look Eagles down Bruins

🦅 Eagles vs. Bruins 🐻

The Clarington Eagles were coming off the back end of back-to-back games after defeating Caledon, but a tough opponent awaited them in their rival, the Uxbridge Bruins.

1st Period

There was no score until late in the period when the Eagles struck first. Who better than Nolan Winter against his old team to give the Eagles the jump? Assists went to Owen Laton and Gianluca Meli.

2nd Period

A roughing penalty to Uxbridge goalie Kevin Halloran late in the first period carried over into the second. Just 18 seconds into the period, the Eagles capitalized on the power play: Gianluca Meli scored a goal that put the Eagles up 2-0.

However, just three minutes later, the lead shrank to one on a goal by Jordan Fitger.

But again, three minutes later, Gianluca Meli was unstoppable on the night, scoring his second goal and third point of the game to put the Eagles up 3-1. Luke Kemp got one back for the Bruins at 11:32, setting up a tight third period.

3rd Period

1:01 into the period, one of the newcomers to the Eagles paid dividends: Seth Clark scored, assisted by—you guessed it—Gianluca Meli, who earned his fourth point of the night.

The Eagles added an empty net goal by Brayden Hicks and knocked off the Uxbridge Bruins 5-2.

The Eagles’ next home action will be Thursday, December 11, when they host the Schomberg Cougars, hoping they can get a little revenge after falling to Schomberg on home ice a couple of weeks ago.

Come fly with your Clarington Eagles!
