Eagles Continue Undefeated Start With 4-1 Win Over Scarborough

The Eagles and Scarborough Knights did battle at the Garnet B. Rickard Recreation Complex. After defeating Georgina earlier in the season, the Knights have yet to pick up another win and were looking to change that against an undefeated Clarington Eagles squad.

1st Period

It was a low-shot, low-chance opening period, but three goals still found their way onto the scoreboard.

Christian Sokoljuk and Charlie Key scored within five minutes of each other to give the Eagles a 2-0 lead.

Scarborough got on the board late in the period when a shot eluded Nate Gillis, cutting the Eagles’ lead to 2-1 heading into the intermission.

2nd Period

There was no scoring for most of the second period as the Eagles and Knights battled through a tight 20 minutes.

With just 1:02 left on the clock, Sokoljuk struck again for his second of the game, deflecting a shot into the net from the side of the goal to give Clarington a 3-1 advantage.

3rd Period

There was only one more goal to report, and it belonged to Eagles AP call-up Mason Littlejohn.

Littlejohn found the back of the net as the Eagles cruised to a 4-1 victory and kept their undefeated start to the season alive.

The Eagles now get ready for a battle of undefeated teams as they take on the Port Perry Lumberjacks, the only other team in the league yet to lose.

The Eagles and Lumberjacks face off Sunday at Scugog Arena at 2:25 PM.
