Series Tied Heading Back to Georgina

Game 6 Review: Clarington Eagles vs. Georgina Ice

In what has been a “road warrior” series—with the visiting team winning every matchup—the Clarington Eagles entered Game 6 looking to break the trend and clinch a spot in the Orr Division Finals. Meanwhile, the Georgina Ice were fighting to force a decisive Game 7 on Thursday night.

Period-by-Period Breakdown

1st Period: Four minutes into the opening frame, the Eagles headed to the power play. However, it was the Ice who struck first. Alessandro Petreccia fired a shot from the slot for a shorthanded goal, giving Georgina an early 1-0 lead.

2nd Period: The middle frame remained scoreless, though the path to the penalty box stayed busy. The Eagles racked up 26 penalty minutes, including a few 10-minute misconducts, while Georgina sat for 12 minutes.

3rd Period: Georgina goaltender Aidan Lindsay was a standout through the first three periods, turning away several prime scoring chances. With time winding down and the Eagles pressing, Nate Gillis was pulled for the extra attacker. Brayden Hicks hammered a shot from the point, sending the Rickard into a frenzy and tying the game at 1-1. For the first time in the series, the teams headed to overtime.

Overtime & Final Results

The drama continued in the extra frame when Eagles forward Owen White was called for goalie interference. The Ice capitalized on the man advantage as Carson Mackenzie buried a shot from the front of the net to end it.

It was a heartbreaker for the Eagles, who must now travel to Georgina for a winner-take-all Game 7. In a back-and-forth series where the home team has yet to find the win column, everything comes down to Thursday, March 19, at the Ice Palace.

Goaltending Stats:

Aidan Lindsay (GEO): 37 saves (Win)

Nate Gillis (CLA): 25 saves

Come fly with your Clarington Eagles!
