Merchants Storm Back for Win

After a 6-1 victory on Thursday, the Eagles traveled to one of the oldest standing rinks in the PJHL in Little Britain, looking to take both games from the Merchants.

First Period

It was a tight first period, exemplified by the shots on goal. The Eagles outshot the Merchants 9-8 but found themselves outscored by one in the period on a goal by Curtis Misner, giving Little Britain the lead after one period.

Second Period

Five minutes and fifty seconds into the period, the Eagles would tie the hockey game at 1-1 on a goal by Ethan Baker. However, not even five minutes later, the Merchants grabbed their lead right back on a marker by Quinn Boyle. That goal held up, giving the Merchants a 2-1 lead going into the third period.

Third Period and Final

Despite outshooting the Merchants 9-4 in the third and appearing to score on a disallowed goal, the Eagles could not solve Goaltender Julian Arcella, who shut the door the rest of the way for a 2-1 Little Britain win. The Eagles will now have to deal with a split in the home-and-home matchup. Nate Gillis stopped 17 of 19 shots. The Eagles were without forwards Brayden Hicks and Ben Stycuk, who were both serving suspension games. Now it’s on to Caledon to finish this very busy few days for your Clarington Eagles.
