Eagles Edge Ice in Sutton

After a thriller of an ending in their home opener, defeating the Uxbridge Bruins 2-1 in a shootout — which, ironically, was also the score of the shootout itself, with Charlie Key and Jack Dean the goal scorers for Clarington — that was Thursday night.

Friday, the Eagles tried to keep the momentum going in their first road game of the season, taking on the Georgina Ice. It would be Nate Gillis getting his first regular-season start this year, while Aidan Lindsay was in goal for Georgina, as the Eagles looked to be tough competition for the Ice in their home opener.

1st Period
Things started off well for the Eagles. Just 1:57 into the game, Jack Dean opened up the scoring with assists from Christian Sokoljuk and Charlie Key. So Jack Dean and Charlie Key are already making their presence known early this season.
But not long after, the Ice tied the game on a goal by Chris Mischenko, and we went to the second tied at 1-1.

2nd Period
Marcus Mori scored to give the Eagles back the lead, but this game was a back-and-forth affair, and Peter Smith tied things up just under the 10-minute mark of the second period.

3rd Period
Jack Dean once again gave the Eagles the one-goal advantage, and this goal would stick as the winner as the Eagles held off the Ice for the rest of the period and escaped Georgina with a 3-2 victory.
So, two huge wins for the Eagles to start the year has to be good for the players and their confidence.

Now they will play their next home game Thursday, Sept. 17, against Schomberg.

A big game by Jack Dean with two goals, and Nate Gillis with a 24-save performance in net.
